The Abundance of God’s Provision

“…and they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.” – Matthew 14:15-20 (KJV)

Let us reflect on God’s Holy Scriptures, which reveal the theme: ‘He has already provided.’

We begin with Matthew 14:15 (NKJV), which tells us, “When evening came, the disciples approached Jesus, saying, ‘This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late. Send the crowd away so they may go to the villages and buy food for themselves.'” But Jesus, fully aware of His power, replied, “They do not need to leave; you give them something to eat.” The disciples responded, “We have only five loaves and two fish.” Jesus then instructed the crowd to sit on the grass. Taking the five loaves and two fish, He looked up to heaven, blessed the food, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who distributed them to the crowd

Friends, God had already provided. No one needed to leave to go seeking.

God’s provision is not contingent on us being present in the natural. Remember, He is our greatest Provider; even before we were conceived in our mother’s womb, He has provided. Jeremiah 1:5 acknowledges that even before God formed us in the belly, He knew us, and before we came forth out of the womb, He sanctified us and ordained us prophets unto the nations. This passage highlights God as our ultimate Provider from inception.

We also see God’s provision in the creation narrative: “And God said, ‘Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat (food).” And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air…” (Genesis 1:29-30 – KJV).

So let us seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to us as well (Matthew 6:33). God is our Source, and He has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. He will be with us always, even to the end of time.

Testimony

During one of our 5 a.m. Saturday morning services in 2019, a prophecy was given to the congregation, foretelling that someone would experience a miracle. Later that same day, I had a conversation with a friend and learned that inheritance monies had been set aside for us. Upon investigating further, we discovered that this money had been available for seven years, completely unknown to us. This experience reminds us that God is always capable of providing. Oh, bless the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not His benefits. He opens doors where none seem to exist. Let us continue to place our trust in Him, for He never fails.
