God’s Daily Provision

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life…Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?” – Matthew 6:25 (NLT)

Provision is the act of supplying what is necessary to meet a need. What is your need today? Food, clothing, finances, a home, love, salvation, a listening ear? At some stage of our lives, we all have needs. My next question is: How do you seek to fulfil your needs? Are you depending on your own means, ability, and strength or someone in particular?

In Matthew 6:25, we are encouraged not to worry about our everyday lives. For all that we need to survive from day to day, our Lord Jesus can and will provide. As we read more of that passage of Scripture, Matthew 6:26-27, we see how God provides food for the birds organically without them having to worry. He will do the same and more for us, we who are created in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26). We are far more valuable to Him.

We are worthy, and God loves us (John 3:16). He loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die a cruel death to save us from sin. This act speaks of His provision of sacrifice to pay the debt that our sins created. Yes! That is a need we all have; we need to be redeemed from the debt of sin. The blood of the Lord was shed once and for all who have sinned, and it is only by the shedding of blood that sin can be cancelled.

There is nothing that we need that God cannot provide. All we need to do is ask. However, it is important to note that He has only promised to provide for our needs, not necessarily our wants. Matthew 6:33 reads that we should seek the Kingdom of God above all else and live righteously, and God will bless us with everything we need. Note: He spoke to every need we may have (The need for food, clothing, money, good health, love, a house, salvation, and listening ears). We can safely say that the ultimate Provider of all of our needs is the Lord himself, and not us. All we need to do is to trust Him and believe that He can provide whatever we need (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Isaiah 46:3-4 speaks of a God Who is self sufficient and self existent and Who will provide for us even in your latter years. Isn’t it amazing that the One who created us is able to provide all that we need from the time that we were conceived until the day we die? Friends, be encouraged to never doubt the ability of the One who created you. Nothing is too small or great for Him to do. Just continue to trust and believe in Him. He is able. Glory to God.
