Live While You Have Life

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” – Romans 15:13 (ESV)

Greetings, my precious brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

God has asked us to be stewards of many things while we live on earth. He expects us to treat time wisely, wealth diligently, relationships and loved ones carefully, business prudently, and ministry faithfully. I sometimes wonder, however, if while we steward everything in our lives, we forget to consider our lives themselves.

Let me elaborate further. When we think of being responsible, many of us think of prioritising something or someone above ourselves, and nothing is wrong with this; in fact, this is an integral quality of the believer. May I, however, submit to you today that the most precious gift God has given us is not the things that make life beautiful but rather life itself.

We exist! Praise God! We are here, we are precious, we are special, we are loved. We are also placed on earth and given time. Not just for us to take care of things but for those things to take care of us. Our relationships bless us with love, our gifts give us abilities, our passions give us purpose, and God has given us life on earth that will fade away in a time that will soon be no more. Hence, life is not given for us simply to be workers like ants but to live in appreciation of God’s initial gift – life.

We may not have everything we want or need, but I’m sure God has given us enough to enjoy our limited time on planet Earth. Don’t spend it wishing to have or regretting what was; rather, spend it seeking the moments that ignite laughter, joy, and precious memories as you soak in God’s goodness.

As you fulfil your purpose, worship God and be responsible with the gifts He has given you. Remember to take moments to enjoy the sunsets and the simple things that bring joy.
