“You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are…” – Matthew 5:5 (MSG)
Today, many people are travelling home to spend Thanksgiving Day with loved ones over delicious dinners. Still, others are missing loved ones because of distance, disagreement, divorce or death.
Today, God wants us to remember the beatitudes to usher in our personal healing through Him. The third beatitude shines light on His desire for us to be “… content with just who you are – no more, no less (Matthew 5:5 – MSG). That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.” He has redeemed us and would like to “fix our inside world – heart and mind – so we can then see God in the world outside (verse 8).
The first five beatitudes seek to target our traumas: spiritual destitution (verse 3), our mourning (verse 4), our meekness (verse 5), our righteousness (verse 6), and how we extend mercy (verse 7). Today, I encourage you to go to the Lord in prayer and pray His Word over your life and family:
3 “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and His rule.
4 “You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.
5 “You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are – no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.
6 “You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.
7 “You’re blessed when you care. At the moment of being ‘care-full,’ you find yourselves cared for.
8 “You’re blessed when you get your inside world – your mind and heart – put right. Then you can see God in the outside world.
Amen!
May you see His hope and healing today.
