Victory Through the Power of the Blood of Jesus

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…” Revelation 12:11 (KJV)

In Revelation 12:11, the word “overcame” is used. According to dictionary.com. ‘Overcome’ when used as a verb, means:

  1. to get the better of in a struggle or conflict;
  2. to prevail over (opposition, a debility, temptations, etc.)
  3. to overpower or overwhelm in body or mind

Based on this definition, we can conclude that when the Scripture says, “…they overcame by the blood of the Lamb…”, it is telling us that we will get the better of and prevail over the enemy who seeks to steal, kill and destroy our lives (John 10:10). In other words, it is possible for us to live victorious because of the power of the blood of Jesus, while diligently pursuing the Master’s business.

Another benefit of Jesus’s blood is that it is necessary for sanctification. The water that comes from the tap in our homes is sometimes discoloured, and if we choose to use it to launder light-coloured clothing and to wash dishes, it leaves permanent stains; thus, we have to discard these damaged items. In comparison, the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on Calvary for every human being, when used according to the Scriptures, washes and makes us clean, removing the stains of sin, guilt, and shame (Hebrews 9:11-14, I John 1:7), thus making us new and bringing us back into a right relationship with God, our Father (Ephesians 1:7).

Once we believe, we can receive other benefits through the blood of Jesus; therefore, we must incorporate them into our daily prayers and see their manifestations in our lives. These benefits include a long life, good health, a God-fearing family, etc. Additionally, Jesus’s blood is a powerful weapon that must be used with confidence as we engage in spiritual warfare to protect and cover ourselves from the wiles of the enemy.

In this new year, if you have not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, now is the opportune time to do so. The blood of Jesus is available to cleanse and position you to live victorious in Christ Jesus.
