Our Heavenly Father’s Love – Part 1

Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us…” – Ephesians 5:1-2 (NIV)

God, our Heavenly Father, loves us with an everlasting love. John 15:13 (NKJV) states, “Greater love has no man than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”  The highest proof of love is laying down one’s life for a friend to save his life.

Because of our Father’s love, He, God, sent His Son to die for us. (John 3:16). In Him, we have redemption. Jesus, God’s only begotten Son, obeyed His Father, gave Himself as a ransom for all humanity, and died a cruel death on Calvary’s Cross, so that we can be redeemed. We are His now. What an exchange! All our sins were forgotten when Jesus cried out, “It is finished.” (John 19:30)

Our Father’s love is sacrificial and enduring. The Apostle Paul, writing to the Galatians, wrote, “I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20 – NIV). We also must sacrifice for our children.

Our Father’s love is unconditional, while we were still sinners, Christ died to redeem us (Romans 5:8). Yes, our Father gave His Son, Christ, for thieves, the lawless, and the vilest offenders. Only repent, believe God’s Word, accept Him as your Lord and Saviour, and live for Him. Live by His decrees. We are now reconciled to God (Romans 5:10). When no one in this world loves us, our heavenly Father loves us dearly. Accept His love and follow Him today, fathers.
