Faith is not Static

“So then Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God”

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

Faith is not static; it is meant to grow. Just like a seed becomes a tree through care and time, our faith matures when it is nourished by the Word of God, prayer, and life’s experiences. Growing your faith is not about having all the answers but trusting the One Who does.

There was a woman named Sandra (not her real name) who unexpectedly lost her job. Fear and uncertainty crept in, but she remembered a promise in Philippians 4:19 (NKJV): “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Sandra chose to pray and trust God instead of panicking. In a few weeks, she was offered a better position that not only paid more but also allowed her time for church ministry. Sandra’s faith grew stronger because she saw firsthand that God is faithful to His Word.

Another example is a young man, Marcus (not his real name), who struggled academically and was involved in drugs and felt like a failure. One day, during witnessing and tract distribution, Marcus was introduced to the Lord Jesus Christ. He responded by accepting Jesus into his heart and life as his Lord and Saviour. Among the Scriptures shared  to encourage his faith was James 1:5 (NKJV): “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God…and it will be given to him.”

Marcus began to pray for wisdom and disciplined himself. He was delivered and set free from drugs, and his academic performance greatly improved. He now encourages others with his testimony. His faith grew through his trial.

 How to Grow Your Faith?

  • Read and meditate on the Word of God (Romans 10:17): Faith grows when we feed it the Word of God daily.
  • Pray with expectation (Mark 11:24): Believe that God hears and answers prayers.
  • Obey even when it’s hard (Hebrews 11:8): Like Abraham, faith grows when we take steps even without knowing the full picture.
  • Surround yourself with faith-builders (Hebrews 10:24-25): Fellowship and encouragement help stir up our faith.
  • Remember God’s faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23): Journaling and testimony sharing help to remember and trust His Word.

Prayer

Lord, help me to grow my faith daily. Remind me through Your Word, Your people, and my past victories that You are faithful. Give me the courage to trust You in every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
