Reset With the Word of God

“Study the Book of the Law continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed….” – Joshua 1:8-9 (NLT)

It is said that the mind is the battleground. Therefore, it means that every battle is won or lost in the mind. You might ask, “How do I win the battles in my thought life? To do this, you need to:

  1. Meditate daily on the truths found in Scripture – allowing them to fill your mind.
  2. Study the Word of God diligently to show yourself approved.
  3. Become an earnest and lifelong student of the art of spiritual warfare.

Further, according to the New Testament, our battles do not take place in the temporal realm but in the spiritual. For example, Mark 5:36 (NKJV) tells us to “…not be afraid; only believe”, 1 Peter 1:13 says to “…gird up the loins of your mind…”, and Romans 12:2 admonishes us to ‘renew our mind,’ while we are instructed to take ‘every thought captive’ in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5.

In the Book of Numbers in the Bible, we see that it is fear that caused the Israelites to miss out on the promise of God. Only Caleb and Joshua from the former generation entered the promised land.  What set them apart? Their secret is summed up in the first chapter of Joshua. God gave Joshua specific instructions for him to be successful and victorious over every adverse situation (Joshua 1:8-9).

Joshua obeyed God’s instructions. He meditated on God’s Word day and night, and his heart, mind, and mouth were filled with it. As Joshua’s mind and mouth thought and spoke God’s Word, he became strong and courageous, just as God commanded.

God is making it a priority to address the issue of your mind, just like Joshua’s. Will you allow Him, by speaking His Word? As you practise reading, studying, memorising, meditating, and speaking the Word of God, your faith will grow. As your faith grows and you draw closer to the Lord, He will accomplish His will for your life.

If you obey, every circumstance in your life can be changed for the better.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for allowing us to enter the secret place. We thank You for Joshua’s anointing for warfare, prosperity, and success strategies. Help us to be obedient to Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
