A Woman With Great Faith

‘…then a woman who had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding…touched the fringe of His robe…for she thought, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.”

Matthew 9:20-22 NLT.

According to Scripture, a woman who had suffered for twelve years with a hemorrhage (perhaps a menstrual disorder), demonstrated profound faith in Jesus, believing that even a touch of His garment could heal her.

In our times of desperation, we need not worry about the correct way to contact God. Like this woman, we can simply reach out in faith. He will respond. Her faith was so strong that she pushed through the crowd, risking social ostracisation due to her condition, to reach Him. Jesus recognised her faith and declared that it was her faith that had made her well.

God changed a situation that had been a problem for years! Like the leper (Mark 1:40-42) and the demon-possessed man (Mark 5:2-15). This woman was considered unclean. For twelve years, she, too,  had been one of the “untouchables” and had not been able to lead a normal life. But Jesus changed that and restored her.

Sometimes, we are tempted to give up on people or situations that have not changed for many years. God can change what seems unchangeable, giving new purpose and hope.

She approached Jesus with humility, not seeking public attention but rather a private healing through faith. Her healing was immediate, demonstrating the power of faith and Jesus’ compassion.

She received her healing because she had tenacious faith.

With just one touch of “Jesus’ garment,” her physical symptoms, the flow of blood, immediately dried up. After twelve years of symptoms, She knew that her body had changed. She was healed physically! The same God Who healed her can do it for you today.

Prayer

God, we thank You for Your love and mercy, and we trust that You will hear our prayers and answer just as the woman with the issue of blood came to Your Son, Jesus. Hear us, we pray, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
