“He who calls you is faithful; who also will do it.” – 1st Thessalonians 5:24 (NKJV)
In a world filled with moments of heaviness, hidden struggles, silent battles no one knows of, and uncertainty, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by doubts and fears. We may question our capabilities and our purpose. We may even get overwhelmed thinking of our tasks ahead. But, there is one unchanging truth that stands firm: God will never abandon the work He has begun in us.
The short but profound verse from 1st Thessalonians 5:24 reminds us that God’s calling is not just an invitation to get started but a promise that He Himself will complete it. Every calling from God carries His faithfulness. When He initiates a process, He never leaves it unfinished. We know that sometimes the path toward God’s promises can feel long. Still, there are seasons of waiting, seasons of processing, seasons of building character and seasons where nothing seems to be happening on the surface. Yet, the truth remains unshaken that the God who calls is the God who is faithful and always works for those who love Him (Romans 8:28).
God’s faithfulness is not affected by our circumstances or our emotions. It is part of His nature and therefore cannot fail. Our primary Scripture also affirms that every calling has a purpose, irrespective of whether we discover that God’s call can be both a reassurance and a challenge — it is a call to trust in His unwavering faithfulness.
The call referenced by Apostle Paul is not just a general urge but a specific invitation to each one of us to fulfil the unique purpose God has for us. Any feeling of burden or insufficiency, we can give to God and hold on to the promise that He does not call us to something without also equipping us for it. Despite our weaknesses and struggles, God will empower us to accomplish His will.
Today, I encourage us to embrace the call of God on our lives without wavering. We may not always see the entire picture or understand the process, but we can rest in the truth that our God is faithful. He will ensure that we walk the path He has laid out before us. So, as you go through your day, remember: He is with you.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help us to recognise Your voice and trust Your leading. We ask You, Lord Jesus, to remove all fear and strengthen our faith so we can walk boldly in the path You’ve set before us. We surrender our plans to Your perfect will in Jesus’ name, Amen.
