‘For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
The Word of God in Jeremiah 29:11 is applicable to everyday life.
I recall that some years ago, I waited on God regarding my future. After graduating from University, I decided the next step was to choose a career path; therefore, I sent numerous applications to different organisations and even attended some interviews. However, I never received any positive responses to the applications sent or from the interviews conducted. So, while waiting in the valley of decision about what the next step would be, I decided to volunteer at my local church.
I did whatever was required of me at church and also joined a group of young people who came daily to pray in the sanctuary. I chose to spend time daily at the altar seeking the Lord, specifically about career and ministry. I must say, as a young woman, waiting patiently at the feet of Jesus daily proved to be tremendously beneficial for me. I sought the Lord, and He answered.
After a period of waiting, when the time was right, God opened the door for me to work with the ministry. This is where God wanted me, and I am prospering where I was planted. Time spent waiting in the presence of the Lord is always quality time with positive outcomes. Everything good God has in store for us will happen in His time; He is never late.
Youths, in this first month of this new year, why not spend some time in the presence of the Lord seeking His guidance for every area of your lives? Jesus is interested in both your present and future. He knows the plans He has for you, plans to prosper you and to give you hope and a future. Do not despair, but rather, wait at the feet of Jesus, and He will answer your prayers. Trust Him.
