“For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” – 2nd Corinthians 5:21 (NLT)
Just think of what it cost our Saviour Jesus Christ to bring us, who were separated and alienated from God, to be reconciled to Him.
Jesus was willing to put His Father’s will first, and for this, He suffered at the hands of those for whom He laid His life down. He died for the ungodly. How willing and ready are we to not die, but share His love, His reason for dying, with those who do not know Him? Do we see it as an inconvenience, a distraction, an embarrassment?
But circumstances can disrupt our ordered lives and draw us closer to our Creator as this account reveals:
A senior official who had a very active social life was diagnosed with a terminal illness after feeling ill for a short while. He sought the best care, but there was nothing anyone could do. He had only months to live. In desperation, he visited churches and attended deliverance services, hoping to be healed.
During the final weeks of his life, while in the hospital, he gave his life to the Lord. He began reading the Word of God and sharing his faith with his associates. As a result, one of them embraced Christ and became a well-known preacher of the Word of God and a soul winner.
This high official did not live to see what impact his faith had, but his decision to disciple one man caused many to turn to the Lord.
Friends, do not wait until illness and death threaten before you make a decision to live for Jesus. Become a disciple of Christ and share your faith with those who need him. The cost is minimal compared with the benefits to be derived.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for giving me the opportunity to know You. Let me now use the time You have given me to make You known to as many as You will bring my way. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
