“The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.” – Matthew 12:37 (NLT)
What are words? According to the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, ‘Words are the smallest unit of language that people can understand if it is said or written on its own.’
Words carry spiritual substance. So often, God’s people are robbed of greater blessings because they speak the wrong words. Your language is the expression of your understanding; it reflects what you know. Then, it can be said that many have developed a language of limitation because they have been wrongly influenced by their environment.
Therefore, as a child of God, you must speak right. This is beyond positive thinking or motivational communication. It means speaking the truth. Now, the Word of God is Truth (John 17:17). When you keep speaking the right words of God’s truth long enough, they’ll communicate a mindset to your spirit and produce results that are consistent with that mindset.
Words should be carefully chosen because of the system of thought they represent. That’s why one needs to speak in accordance with the revealed knowledge of God’s Word. For example, one may say, “When we started worshipping in church, the presence of God came down upon us.” It sounds spiritual, but is it correct to say?
The presence of God doesn’t come down from heaven when you worship; you carry His presence. You’re His temple, and God lives in you permanently. He doesn’t come and go. When we come together in worship, His presence is manifested, not imported.
Therefore, it is important to train yourself to use words that are consistent with your divine nature. Align your language with the New Testament revelation of who you are in Christ, and you will experience an ever-increasing glory, consistent victory, and progress in life, disciple of God.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the revelation of Your Word. Your Word enlightens my spirit, and is full of grace and power. Your Word, O Lord, produces victory. Help me, Father, to speak in line with Your Truth. May I be transformed from glory to glory by the power of Your Word, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
