Attitude is Everything

“You are the people of God; He loved you and chose you for His own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” – Colossians 3:12 (GNT)

Upon reading the above Scripture, what immediately comes to mind is a humble spirit. Humility.

We all have a choice. You can choose to be arrogant. You can choose to be boastful. But in meekness and in humility, you allow yourself to be lifted up by God’s grace.

It is said that attitude determines your altitude.

What are the characteristics on which our attitude should be built?

In Colossians 3:12, we are given these characteristics. It says, “…So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” Our attitude is our daily display. It is how we demonstrate who we are in Christ Jesus, our Redeemer.

The Scripture says, ‘We are the people of God, He loved us and chose us for Himself.’ God has set us apart for Himself; thus, our lifestyle must reflect who we belong to. Our conduct flows from our calling in Christ. Being chosen means God initiated the relationship; He wanted us. He has set us apart for His purposes; now, everything we do should be a response to His love, not an attempt to earn it.

Let not our attitude be reactive to external circumstances, but let it be built by choosing what we want our lives to demonstrate, showing that we are the chosen people of God.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, today we pray for meekness and gentleness of heart. As we go through life, let us be recognised as people who possess Godly characteristics, which are demonstrated in our attitude; for Father, our attitude is everything. Help us to be a blessing to others as we interact with them in our daily lives. This we pray in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
