“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” – Isaiah 26:3 NLT
As we travel the world, whether in the air, on land, or at sea, the ride is not always smooth; at times, it is bumpy. When the ride is smooth, we are at peace, we are relaxed, and sometimes even fall asleep. On the other hand, when the ride is bumpy, we are alert, cautious, and fearful, and ready to take necessary action if required.
Friends, life is uncertain and consists of seasons of change. As a result, sometimes we feel as if we are on the mountaintop basking in the euphoria of successes and accomplishments, and at other times, it seems as if we are in the valley, surrounded by the dark shadows of those same mountains, carried away by streams of troubles and disappointments. The questions we must ask ourselves daily are: “What should be my posture as I transition from one season to another? What does God expect of me?
The answers to both questions are the same: have a positive attitude, knowing that:
- The season will not last forever; it will come to an end.
- God is with you in your circumstances.
- Purpose is being fulfilled in your life.
- You will emerge stronger than you were before.
- There are valuable lessons to be learnt that will benefit you and others.
Possessing and demonstrating a positive attitude does not mean that you will never feel discouraged, be in despair, or face difficult circumstances. It simply means that in the good times and not-so-good times, we must strive to trust in God who keeps us in perfect peace when our thoughts are fixed on him. He wants us to have confidence in His ability to keep us both on the mountain top and in the valley. (Isaiah 41:10).
Today, let us renew our trust in God, knowing that He can give us peace and a positive attitude, especially in times of uncertainty and fear.
