“O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called” – 1st Timothy 6:20 (KJV)
The word “trust” in this Scripture is translated from the Greek word parakatathēkē, which means a deposit – the investment of a person’s very identity and assets into another.
God has made a divine deposit inside of you and me.
He has entrusted you with the same life-saving Gospel that rescued you.
To walk in the fullness of this calling, we must adopt a specific attitude: absolute personal responsibility. These responsibilities include:
1. The attitude of Consciousness and Ownership.
Apostle Paul did not view the Gospel as a casual assignment; he had a keen sense of his responsibility. Scripture says: “According to the glorious Gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.” (1st Timothy 1:11, KJV). This was Paul’s attitude: He owned his mission. He knew that the salvation of his generation depended on his obedience. We should develop this same mindset. Our co-workers, family, friends, and classmates are not in our lives by accident – they are waiting on the deposit inside of us. God holds us responsible as His witnesses to our generation.
2. The attitude of a Fruit-Producer
True success in the Kingdom of God is not measured by worldly standards, but by our productivity in the Kingdom. The Scripture reminds: “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit…” (John 15:5, KJV)
A branch doesn’t struggle to produce fruit; it simply allows the life of the vine to flow through it. Your attitude should be one of bold declaration and action. Daily declare: “I am a fruit-bearing branch in the Name of Jesus! I bear the fruits of righteousness and manifest His works.”
3. The attitude of Single-Minded Focus
You carry the incorruptible seeds of the Kingdom of God inside you. Therefore, your number one ministry in life is to expand that Kingdom as clearly stated in Matthew 6:33.
When you make God’s business your primary focus, He takes care of yours. Now that you are in His Kingdom, make its advancement your ultimate priority, and His glory will be beautifully manifested in and through your life.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the immense privilege of trusting me with the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ. I receive this holy deposit with a deep reverence, consciousness, and personal responsibility. I recognise that I am Your witness, strategically positioned to bring the light of salvation to my family, friends, and workplace. Use me and let Your glory be manifested in everything I do. Thank You for empowering me to fulfill my ministry to my generation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
