Clutter Hinders Our Lives – Part 1

“Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for You.” – Psalm 25:21 (NKJV)

Beloved, our homes get dusty, but we sweep, wipe, and open windows to let fresh air in. As the holiday approaches, we get rid of old things and buy new ones, correct? But are you aware that our hearts also collect ‘dust’- worry, bitterness, unforgiveness, fear, things we’ve said, and things done to us?

Like a room, if we never clean, the clutter starts to weigh us down, making us feel depressed, lazy, unnecessarily angry, and all kinds of other unhealthy emotions.

Friends, God doesn’t just want to bless the outside of our lives; He wants to clean the inside too.

Today:

1.  Invite Him to search you. The Scripture says, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts (Psalm 139:23, KJV). We can’t clean what we hide. Bring it to light: your secrets, the hidden hurts, the quiet anger, the thoughts you’re afraid of. God already sees, and He’s not afraid of your condition. Ask Him to help get rid of old things and to give you the refreshing thing He has for you.

2. Wash with the Word of God. Ephesians 5:26 (NKJV) says, “That He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word.” The Word of God is like water on a dirty place: when bitterness rises, It washes it with forgiveness (if we allow It). When fear comes, wash it with, “Fear not, for I am with you…” (Isaiah 41:10). Let God’s truth scrub what the world has stained.

3. Fill it up. Jesus said an empty house gets filled with worse things (Luke 11:24-26). After cleaning, don’t leave it empty. Fill your life with praise, gratitude, and love. And above all else, guard your heart, for out of it come the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). Do not allow the evil one to stymie you, wash and fulfil your purpose.

Prayer

Father, today I asked for Your forgiveness. Lord, Jesus, clean my heart, wash away resentment, fear, and every hidden thing that’s not of You. Create a pure and clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit in me. Fill the cleaned places with Your joy, peace, and love. Make me a home You are proud to dwell in. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
