Children’s Church

Our Children’s Ministry has been serving the fellowship and Wortmanville community since 1989. The aim of the ministry is to teach children the Word of God and to disciple them to become true believers.

Our department serves the communities and upholds kingdom principles inspired by Deuteronomy 6: 4-9:

6:4   Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:

6:5   And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

6:6   And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

6:7   And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

6:8   And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

6:9   And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

Our Leadership

Our Ministry is currently led by Min. Gale Doris (Coordinator) and several persons in our fellowship including Deacon Lorex Edwards (Asst. Coordinator), Sister Cheryl Bourne (Secretary/Treasurer) and Sister Dianne John (Asst. Secretary/Treasurer). Minister Claudia Fraser serves as Advisor to the Ministry.

Our children are mentored by nine teachers: Pastoral Intern Zoe Grenville, Deacon Julius David, Bro. Hugh Caines,  Sisters Alana Williams, Joycelyn Hamer, Nancy Holder, Pansy Marshall, Sherose Parris, and Shirley Hertzen.

How we Minister

We have been ministering to more than seventy-five students (pre-COVID-19 numbers) ranging from 6 months to 13 years of age. Our dynamic programmes collaborate and serve as a feeder to other FAOGW programmes including Sunday School, Girls Only (formerly Missionettes) and Royal Rangers.

We transform children into Kingdom Ambassadors through:

  • Sunday Services that mirrors adult sessions; allowing the children to lead in prayer, participate in praise and worship, share testimonies, read scriptures, conduct sermonettes and partake in Holy Communion, for those who are baptised.
  • Teaching the importance of giving to the Lord through tithing and offering.
  • Giving them an opportunity to be led in the sinner’s prayer as they accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. (This usually follows with attendance at converts’ class).
  • Activities that include prayer walks, tract distribution and Bible reading sessions.
  • Monthly programmes which encourage children to present on current affairs and discuss issues impacting their communities and our nation.
  • Annual programmes held on the first Sunday in May (Children Church anniversary) and the month of December (annual Christmas Programme). These provide a platform for the children to display their giftings by chairing and executing throughout the programmes.

Where and when we meet

Children Church was held on Sundays from 12:00 – 13:30 hrs in the Sanctuary. This session has now been merged with Sunday School classes and hosted virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bible Reading sessions were held on Fridays from 16:30 – 17:30 hrs prior to the pandemic. This is now restricted until further notice.
