Fast and Pray

Hebrews 11:6(a) – But without faith, it is impossible to please Him (God).

Our perfect example always comes from Jesus. A beautiful account is recorded in Mark 9. Here, Jesus found His disciples thronged by a crowd and scribes questioning them. After enquiring, Jesus was told what had transpired. Immediately, Jesus rebuked them about their lack of FAITH. Jesus said,” Bring Him to me.” (v19). Jesus is saying these words to you today. Bring all your cares, fears and disappointments to Him. We must come with the understanding of Hebrews 11:6. Jesus immediately rebuked the deaf and dumb spirit. The boy was healed. Let us take note here that Jesus was specific. We must do the same when we pray. Let us crave the gift of discerning.

The disciples were amazed at what had happened and asked Jesus, “Why could we not cast it out?” Jesus said, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” (v29).

This is the answer to many questions. Prayer maintains a relationship with God. Faith works in the context of that relationship. Fasting lets go of the visible in order to get in touch with the invisible, the Holy Spirit.

For what kind will you need to fast and pray? Let this be a season with a difference.
