Start Strong (Part Two) — Finish Well

Ecclesiastes 9:11 – I returned and saw under the sun, That the race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all.

The shotgun has gone off and yes, the race in 2022 has begun and you must run in this race because you have life, and once you have life you have hope. I know that many persons in the stands are not looking in your direction so it seems as if there will be no one who will shout, applaud, or encourage you. There you are standing and contemplating your next move, and yes I know that you are not the ‘champion’ boy or girl. As a matter of fact, you barely made the qualifying time, and of course, to top it all off, you do not have all the right prerequisites that will make you sprint faster than the others you are contending with for the prize. It seems as if all the odds are stacked against you. You are already written off.

Well just in case you did not realize it, I want to reassure you that in this meaningful race of life, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are very present to cheer you on and give all the support needed. Once you are in the right relationship with the Son, you have started well.  Next, stay in your lane and move at a purposeful pace because after all, the race is a marathon and not a sprint, as you may have thought.

Please note the following also: when you are thirsty drink from the Holy Spirit, when you get weary rest on the promises of God and when you can’t see clearly, call upon the name of the Lord and He will answer and show you great and mighty things that you know not of (Jeremiah 33:3).

As you stay on course, you will receive clear guidance and necessary instructions from the One who sees the finishing line and is well able to bear you up and carry you when it becomes difficult and the course gets a little tough. You are a winner in spite of all the negatives. Your responsibility is to endure to the end because your victory is certain.
