The Energising Power of Fasting and Prayer

Matthew 6:5-8

‘Energised” is all about being invigorated, refuelled and fired up to live purpose and complete the mission. God has His hand on us individually and He desires to energise us for the work on earth. We must become the people who will pray with great faith, and allow the Holy Spirit to come alive in us, fill us, use us, guide us – let us be energised through fasting and praying!

When we fast and pray, we stand to benefit and not lose.  Spiritually, when we fast and pray we find out where we stand with our faith and increase clarity for making important decisions. The goal of spiritual fasting and praying is not to find all of the answers, but to clear the way for us to live the truth.

Fasting and praying are not ends in itself but rather a means to a greater end. Fasting is not just an exercise in self-denial. So, don’t think of fasting as going without food. Rather, think of fasting as a re-investment of time and energy into time spent with the Lord in prayer and Bible study.

The bottom line is, fasting and praying  ENRICHES and ENERGISES our time spent with the Lord and fuels our spiritual energy. It clears away the distractions and allows us to clearly hear the voice of the Lord for DIRECTION in our lives through the Word of God.

You will be hungry but turn your physical hunger over to God, and He will satisfy you with spiritual satisfaction. When we are touched in our spirit man, we will be fulfilled in our soul and in our bodies as well. So, try fasting and praying before your quiet time. See the difference it makes.
