The Journey….to Celebration

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope – Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT).

As I read of the success of many who are current graduates of the University of Guyana, I call to memory my own journey.

It all began in the year 2009. After being encouraged by many within and outside of the church to attend university. I was a bit concerned since I did not have all that was required to attend such an important institution.  However, I stepped out in faith and sent in an application. My application was accepted and I was now required to write an entrance examination, which I did and was successful, to my surprise.

The four (4) years that I spent at that institution came with its own challenges.  I was building my home, self employed, paying my tuition and having to provide for my family and maintain an old vehicle. But through it all God was on my side, I was never late with my payments, and was successful in all my courses; many of which I was doing for the first time.

What made this journey so worthwhile in spite of the challenges, was the support of family, specifically, my wife and mother. Conversely, the fact I graduated in the stipulated time with a very high GPA and being the first among my siblings to attend university, makes this degree significant to me. More importantly, I can now use what I have learnt to help improve the lives of others. To God be the glory, great things He has done.

With God all things are possible.
