So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27 (NIV)
We have heard this statement so many times “Families are the bedrock of society.” Since families make up communities, cities, and countries it can be said that God-fearing families, would result in God-fearing nations.
In God’s creation plan for the world, He created, established and ordained the first family (Adam and Eve). In our verse for today, we read “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them.” God then, established the institution of the family. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.” (Genesis 1:28a – NIV).
Since family is at the centre of God’s plan for the happiness and progress of His people, let us, therefore, strive to keep God at the centre of our family, through prayers, devotions, in our recreational activities, and even in times of conflict and tragedies. Let us love, protect and fight for them.
Therefore, cultivate the habit of hugging and kissing each member of your family or your spouse before they leave home for school, work, or an errand, and let them know how much you love them.
Prayer:
Lord, I thank You that through Your mighty wisdom from creation, You established the family. Help us to love, care and support the family that You have blessed us with, in Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
