Leave and be Responsible

Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:24 (NKJV)

The Bible admonishes that a man should leave his father and his mother and cleave to his wife. Why was this message given to the man? From the beginning the man was bestowed with the leading role in his family and major responsibilities were therefore handled by parents. However, the youth or young adult needs to be trained for these responsibilities. Leaving that home means that when a man is on the verge of beginning a family of his own, he must prepare to be a responsible person.

This message has been sadly buried and many families are suffering from situations caused by reversed roles of responsibility. Women have over the years taken on the task of providing the necessary tools needed by family members to advance successfully into the future. If this ever happens in a family, there is no need for misunderstandings and disrespect. One major adjustment to make is that of holding on to high expectations. Let go and let God.

With God in the midst major adjustments can be made. Husband and wife can share responsibilities and learn to complement each other. Allowing God to lead the way is crucial to creating a peaceful environment in the home. Nothing that two imperfect people do on their own would be perfect but be assured that faith in God and each other will work miracles. God ordained marriage; therefore it has the propensity to be successful. Never give up on God’s plan. He didn’t bring you this far to leave you.
