“For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.” (Ephesians 5:31)
As we close off the celebration of family month, we wish to reiterate that stable families are the bedrock of any society and God decreed that the structure of the family comprise of a husband, wife and children, with Christ being the head of the husband and the husband being the head of his wife. (Ephesians 5:23, 1 Corinthians 11:3).
The influence of Godly parents prepares the child for adult life.
Mankind has deviated from God’s ordained family structure which has been replaced with many family types such as single-parent families, families headed by two unmarried partners, either of the opposite sex or same sex, etc.
Research has revealed that in 2020, there were about 15.31 million children living with single parent mothers in the United States and about 3.27 million children living with a single parent father. Information also disclosed that some of the well-known risks for children growing up in a single-parent setting compared to their peers in married-couples families are lower school achievement, more disciplinary problems, school suspensions, less high school graduation, and more crime and incarceration. Definitely not what society needs.
Dr. Errol Bhola author of the book, ‘THE CHRISTIAN HOME: Built on the Rock’ stated that, “we should all desire to build a strong and Godly nation. This can only be done through the building of Godly homes”.
PRAYER:
Lord, You are not only wonderful but You are full of wonders. There is nothing too hard for You to do (Jeremiah 32:17 & 27). We pray in the name of Jesus for the restoration of the family structure that You have instituted. We recognise that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God in the pulling down of strongholds. ( 2 Corinthians 10:4). In the name of Jesus, we pull down the strongholds of territorial principalities and powers that have a stranglehold on families today. We release the blood of Jesus and the fire of the Holy Spirit to destroy the satanic communication network designed to undermine the Family institution created by God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
