Come and hear, all you who fear God; let me tell you what he has done for me. Psalm 66:16 (NIV)
Witnessing by our Lifestyle (2)
Psalm 66:16 (NIV)
Abraham was getting old and he wanted to see his son Isaac married and settled. But he did not want Isaac to take a wife from the people among whom he dwelt. He called his faithful servant who had charge over all his possessions and sent him on a journey to bring back a wife for his son from among his own family. Remember God had said to Abraham years before, “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you…“ – (Gen.12:1). And Abraham obeyed God.
Decades later, his servant who had opportunities to see the faithfulness of Abraham’s God, went by faith to bring back a wife for his master’s son. The servant prayed for God’s favour and success on a mission that he himself had doubts about. God answered his prayer and he returned to Abraham with a young woman whom Isaac loved and Abraham was well pleased with – (Gen. 24).
The people who we live among, our family members, our friends, our workmates, all of them have opportunities every day to see our faith in action and to be won over to Christ if we live our lives daily in His presence, for “the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers” (1 Pet. 3:12).
Daniel was a captive from Judah exiled to Babylon but continued to fervently serve God in a pagan nation. His lifestyle so impacted the king that when he was thrown into the den of lions the king could not sleep. When the king found out that the lions did not touch Daniel and he was removed safely from the den after spending a whole night, the king said “I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel, for He is the living God, and steadfast forever…” (Daniel 6: 26 NKJV).
Praise God for men and women who are not afraid or ashamed to be a witness for Him anywhere, for God will deliver the righteous from trouble.
