We are Living Epistles – Part 1

You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men.”

2 Corinthians 3:2 (NKJV)

The dictionary defined the word “Epistle” as a poem or other literary work in the form of a letter or series of letters. These letters, once published, are placed in the public domain for anyone to read. The conversion of the Corinthian believers, under the faithful endeavours of the Apostle Paul and his team, was a testimony of their accomplishments by the grace of God. They had much to be grateful for.

Let’s examine the text, penned by the Apostle Paul, “you are our epistle,”  meaning you are our recommendation. Indeed, we are God’s representatives on this earth; not letters bore mainly in the hands, but “written in our hearts”. This signifies that our conduct as Christians must not only appear right, but must be, according to His guidance.  Our faithful conduct must be “known and read by all men.” Paul asked in 1 Corinthians 9:1-2 – “Are you not my work in the Lord?…you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.” Our work for Christ must be manifested wherever we go. A lasting legacy must remain.

What joy would it bring to our Lord Jesus Christ, that what is being spoken of us by ‘widespread reports,’ is that of our lifestyle; our faith. A lifestyle that brings glory to God and a sense of satisfaction to those God has placed over us. Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” – Matthew 5:16.

Praise God for men and women, boys and girls, who are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to be witnesses for Him everywhere. Let us remember, therefore, that we are God’s living epistles.

Prayer:

Almighty God and Everlasting Father, we thank you for The Gift of Salvation that we have received. Help us to reflect Christ through our lives, as God’s living epistles, in Jesus Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
