The Power of Fire

The Power of Fire

Jeremiah 20:9 (HCSB)

If I say, “I won’t mention Him or speak any longer in His name,” His message becomes a fire burning in my heart, shut up in my bones. I become tired of holding it in, and I cannot prevail

Jeremiah 20:9 (HCSB)

One of the symbols of the Holy Spirit is fire. In our daily lives, fire is important. In our spiritual lives, it is absolutely important for us to grow and be empowered. Jesus instructed His disciples to go and wait for the gift of the Holy Ghost. Jesus knew from experience that life without the Holy Ghost would be unproductive and empty.

Throughout the Word of God, we have accounts in which God revealed His power by fire. Read Exodus 3:1-10. God hears our cries for help and can deliver us from the oppression of the enemy.

In Exodus 13:21 the pillar of fire was the Light that guided the children of Israel after they left Egypt. GOD HAS NOT CHANGED, and He will continue to be a Light and a Lamp as we seek to find the path that leads to eternal life. This is the path that will help us to avoid temptations. He will give comfort in the face of challenges. He will warn of danger even in the darkest hour. In 1 Kings 18:20-40, God gave a practical lesson to show that we must make a conscious decision to rid ourselves of idols and cling to the Cross, and serve God alone.

Like on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:3), Jeremiah, experienced the work of the Holy Ghost in his life. He realised that The Fire was working on the inside of his human frame and that it could not be contained there. Jeremiah learnt that he had to speak God’s Word and witness to the people of his day.

What about us? We cannot live successful Christian lives without the Holy Ghost. There are many more benefits that God has provided for us through the help of the Holy Ghost. Answer the call like Moses did when the burning bush drew him, accept the ability of the Holy Ghost to lead, submit to the work of the consuming fire and you will experience victories beyond your imagination. The fire is essential!
