Condemnation by Authoritative Figures

Condemnation by Authoritative Figures

James 3:6 (NIV)

“The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is set on fire by hell.” James 3:6 (NIV)

Parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents are all authoritative figures in the lives of their children and their words over their children can bring forth either a curse or a blessing. There is an old adage that states, ‘once a person lives under condemnation he learns how to condemn others,’ and once this act is passed down from generation to generation, a generational curse is enforced and needs to be broken. If a parent or another authoritative figure in the family tells a child he or she is stupid, and that child accepts and believes those words are true, a negative effect has been imposed on that child.

Vito Rallo, author of the book, ‘Breaking of Generational Curse and Pulling down Strong Holds’ stated, “When you tell someone he is stupid and will never amount to anything, you are actually pronouncing a condemnation or curse over them. You are setting in motion a destructive force that can continue from generation to generation unless it is supernaturally broken”.

This writer was a recipient of curses by my father who declared over my life that I will amount to nothing, same was reinforced by teachers in the education system. I also believed it and confessed that curse over my life. In short, I failed Common Entrance (High School Entrance Examination) and had to sit the Preliminary Certificate Examination (P.C.E) to get into Secondary School. I failed most of my Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) subjects and lived a life of sexual immorality, revelling in parties and believed that nothing good will come out of my life. However, when I received eternal life and read in the Holy Bible that I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus and that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I am the head and not the tail, I believed it, and the power of this confession brought about a total transformation in my life.

Beloved, I never believed that I was university material but I am the holder of a first degree and a Master’s degree. Glory be to God, for He through the blood of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit has broken the curse spoken over my life.

My friends, you can break any negative confession over your life today, self-imposed or otherwise. Author Derek Prince has given us a three-pronged approach in his book, ‘Blessing or Curse: You can Choose’. Repent – Revoke – Replace. First, we must acknowledge that a wrong confession was made, and repent of it. Second, we must revoke it – that is, cancel it in the name of Jesus. Third, we must replace the previous confession with the right one. Using this method, with the Word of God, nullifies any curse over our lives, leading to a life of purpose and kingdom fulfilment. I am a recipient.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I repent of every negative confession that I made over my life and revoke (cancel) that curse with the blood of Jesus. I now replace that curse with the designated blessings of God, in Jesus’s name, Amen!
