Choose Blessings, not a Curse

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light – 1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)

In Malachi 2, a warning was issued to priests. God said, ”If you will not hear,…to give glory to My name…I will send a curse upon you, And I will curse your blessings.” This message to the priesthood must be taken seriously by all believers. We are God’s spiritual priests.

How can we give honour to God’s name?  We must meditate on God’s Word, be knowledgeable about sound doctrine and live Holy lives according to God’s Holy laws. We must not fail to enlighten our brothers and sisters, in the family of God, about the Truth and not fail to introduce those who are blinded by the enemy, to the teachings of Jesus and the gift of salvation. Most importantly, do not mislead anyone.

What God requires of us is that we be living sacrifices. His Word says that He will send a curse upon disobedient priests and even curse their blessings. On the other hand, God has good plans for all those who honour Him. In Proverbs 10:22, God tells us that He desires to make us rich in every area of our lives. He gives blessings that would not add any sorrow. A curse upon your life and your blessings would definitely bring sorrow.

What would you prefer? Would you proclaim God’s praises and be light in the darkness or would you dishonour Him?

Prayer

Dear God, thank You for Your forgiveness. Thank You for taking me out of the darkness. Thank You for being The LIGHT and giving me a life full of light. Help me to be a hearer of Your Word and a priest who would bring honour to Your name.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
