Need Deliverance? Let God Choose Your Team.

Need Deliverance? Let God Choose Your Team.

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

“…My Grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)

There was a period in the history of the Israelites when God, himself, provided sovereign leadership. The temporal leaders, called Judges, were chosen by God to rescue the people from their enemies, establish justice, and encourage the practice of the Torah among the Hebrews. The name Gideon, the fifth judge of Israel, means ‘Great Destroyer’. He was described as ‘a mighty man of valour ’ by God, yet he had low self-esteem. He also doubted God’s ability to defend the Israelites against their enemies. He didn’t recognise God as a Deliverer.

God’s patience with Gideon was evident in the account of Judges 7. Eventually, Gideon’s confidence soared and he began to walk in faith. The assignment for Gideon was to defeat the Midianites, Israel’s enemy at that time. Gideon had to learn that God will accomplish His plan because the battle is His.

Gideon had to choose an army. Zechariah 4:6, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord Almighty – (NIV), was not in his psyche. As a result, he gathered thirty-two thousand men. God intervened and reduced the army to three hundred, ‘lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’ – (Judges 7:2 – NKJV).  This is how God’s wisdom works. God chose men who satisfied their thirst, and also watched for impending danger. Finally, God chose a faithful servant to be a close support for Gideon. God chose Gideon’s team.

Do you have a spiritual battle to fight? Do you need deliverance? Have you identified your enemy? Crave the wisdom of God. Don’t choose relationships that include:

  1. persons with negative thoughts
  2. persons who lack the spirit of discernment

Let your relationships include those who would make your well-being a priority and those who would display confidentiality. Let God help you to evaluate your relationships.

Prayer

Dear God, I believe that You are the Son of God and You came to save me.

Forgive me for doubting Your ability to deliver me from every attack of the enemy.

Thank You for Your Word that has shown me that You are awesome and that You are indeed My Jehovah Shalom. I will abide in You, knowing that Goodness and Mercy shall follow me. Amen.
