A Prosperous and Healthy Soul – Part 3

“Create in me a clean heart, O God,

And renew a steadfast spirit within me.” – Psalm 51:10 (NKJV)

The third danger all living things face is natural disasters. A spiritual natural disaster in the life of a believer is a spiritual drought. This occurs when we allow that fountain of living water that is within us to dry up. When we quench Him and refuse to use the gifts He so graciously bestowed on us, or when we use the Holy Spirit’s gifts in order to receive filthy lucre or the admiration of men.

The other side of the coin is when we allow the spiritual flood of the enemy to overtake our lives. When we drown in our own selfish ambitions and lustful desires. When we forget to call on the name of the Lord Jesus. Isaiah 59:19 says, “So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, And His glory from the rising sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” We have no excuse. There is no reason for our souls not to prosper. All we have to do besides our worship, and righteous living is to submit our will to Him – James 4:7 and renew the way we think – Romans 12:2.

Finally, we need to give our emotions over to God, Who alone can provide the comfort and healing that we need. Hebrews 4:15-16 (KJV) says, “For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Prayer

Father in heaven, how we love You. We are grateful when You turn us away from the path of destruction and guide us with Your truth. Thank You for being patient with us. Thank You for watching in times when we were weak and ill. Thank You for showing us how to become healthy and well. Help us to remain that way. We magnify Your name and bless You for renewing our strength with Your Word. Thank You for the prosperity in all things as our soul prospers. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
