Amazing Gift

Amazing Gift

Ephesians 2:4-5 (NKJV)

“But God, Who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)” – Ephesians 2:4-5 (NKJV)

Christmas and Easter are two of the most loved events on the Church’s calendar. Have you ever pondered on the events surrounding Jesus’ birth from Mary’s perspective? So much happened within a year’s time.

The angel’s announcement that Mary was chosen, the knowledge of her cousin Elizabeth’s pregnancy, the angel revealing the truth of her pregnancy to Joseph, the journey to Bethlehem, and her son’s birth in a lowly estate all took place. In addition, the announcement of the angel to the shepherds and later the visit of the wise men bearing gifts were completed.

Mary knew that her Son was the coming Messiah but was she surprised to hear Anna’s praise and Simeon’s prophecy when she took Him to the temple? Was she prepared to see Him cruelly nailed to the cross and crucified?

God’s grace is the ultimate gift and we owe Him the greatest in thanksgiving. Let us praise the Creator for His priceless gift.  Let us share the Good News with all who cross our paths. We return our Father’s love by sharing the gift of His Son in every season and everywhere. When we do, we are eternally blessed…and the Father smiles. God’s grace isn’t earned but freely given. What an amazing, humbling gift!

Prayer

Father, Your gifts are priceless. You gave Your Son, Jesus to save humanity and Your motive was love. I pray that the gifts I give to others will reflect and come from an overflow of love from the heart and that they will echo the great love You have for all of Your children and humanity. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
