Celebrate the Christ of Christmas – Part 1

‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the Lord; Make straight in the desert A highway for our God.” – Isaiah 40:3 (NKJV)

You may have heard many describe the Christmas season this way, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”. Why is that so? Let us begin by explaining the true meaning of Christmas to believers. This season holds a special place in our hearts since it is a time that is reserved to reflect upon and celebrate the fulfilment of God’s promise to His chosen people. Isaiah 9:6 reminds us that this promise was prophesied by God’s servant, Isaiah, over 700 years before its manifestation in the form of the virgin birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ – Matthew 1:18-25;  2:1-12.

In our modern society, many have invested much effort to remove Jesus from the centre of Christmas. These distractive tactics began with their attempts to change the name of the celebration to Xmas. They further attempted to change the reason for the celebration from the Christ child to Santa Claus. Additionally, continuous attempts are being made to change the concept of Christmas from a spiritual experience to a natural one.

It is true that many have lost sight of the true reality of the birth of Christ. This led to the deception and seduction of our children through santa dolls, toys, music, costumes, clothing, and animation. Many adults have been swayed through enticing marketing strategies that lure with the aim of trapping its victims to excessive spending. Aren’t you tired of the paganistic rituals of Xmas? Today, begin to set new standards for yourself and your family that are centered on Christ. Allow Christ, the true reason for the season, to set you free. Now that you have done so, put Him where He belongs, that is, at the centre of Christmas.
