The Blood Covenant – Part 1

“So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many…” – Hebrews 9:28 (NIV)

In both the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible, God highlighted the importance of the Blood Covenant, a promise He made with mankind. Leviticus 17:11 says “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul” – (NKJV)

Myer Pearlman, author of the book, “Knowing the Doctrines of the Bible”, admonishes that the origin of the sacrifice was ordained in heaven. Myer stated that the Atonement was no afterthought on the part of God and that the fall of man did not take Him by surprise, necessitating quick steps to remedy it. God had made provision from the beginning. Jesus is described as “…the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” – Revelation 13:8 (NKJV). The Passover Lamb was foreordained before it was killed (Exodus 12:3-6 – NIV); so Christ the Lamb, without blemish and without spot, “verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last time for you” – 1 Peter 1:19-20 (KJV).

So beloved, the Blood of Jesus that was shed on the Calvary cross served two main purposes; it enacted the will of the covenant and it was the cleansing agent for sin. If no blood was shed there could not be any remission of sin – Hebrews 9:22. Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death was monumental in that it made an open show of the devil. Jesus, the eternal Son, who existed in Spirit form, took on Him a human body in order that He might “destroy” (kartargeo) satan’s strong power over death.

Lehman Strauss, author of, “Demons yes, but thank God for good Angels”, stated, “Men and women are creatures of flesh and blood, the very life satan seeks to destroy. Therefore Christ became a partaker of flesh and blood in order that He should die, and in the very act of dying, wrest the keys of Death and Hades from satan”.

Beloved, God’s Blood Covenant can be accessed by all (John 3:16). Only through this covenant you can receive eternal life. If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, repeat this prayer.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I receive Your Son Jesus Christ as my Lord, Saviour, Master, and soon coming King. I repent for the sins I committed and thank You for atoning for them at Calvary’s cross. I renounce and denounce every demonic covenant that I and/or my ancestors made with the devil knowingly and unknowingly in the name of Jesus, Amen!
