Promises From the Book of Revelation – No More Curse

“No longer will there be any curse…” – Revelation 22:3 (NIV)

Curses came as a result of man’s sin (Genesis 3:14-19). Because of this act, life on earth and procreation became exceedingly more difficult, and humans suffered two kinds of death – spiritual and physical.

In the New Jerusalem, the curse is lifted. Mankind lives forever in the presence of God and finds no difficulty gaining access to abundant food and water. In the curse, humans are removed from direct access to God, but in the New Jerusalem, that access is restored. And while people are cursed as a result of their sin, Jesus, who knew no sin, became a curse for us all – Galatians 3:13; see Deuteronomy 21:23. He has redeemed us. Accept Him. He rules sovereignly.

The word “serve” is for priestly service. This service means to worship, to serve God. Our service should never diminish or decline. While service here is imperfect, our service there will be pure. We mar our service here in the flesh, with false motives, and with pride. We often use it to get ahead or be famous. But our service in the New Jerusalem will be without fault.

Thus, come humbly before God, giving Him thanks and praise that we are now free, for whom the Son sets free is free indeed. In 1 Peter 1; 2:1–10, Peter teaches that we must have faith and live in holiness. He teaches that the Saints (we) are a chosen generation, called to show forth the praises of the Saviour.

Therefore, let us “…Worship the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.” Psalm 100:-4 (NIV).

Prayer

Loving Father, we come lifting up no other name but the name of Jesus. We give You thanks and we praise You. Take all the honour and the glory.

As Your chosen people, oh God, whom You have set free from all curses, help us to serve You with constant worship in everything we do and say, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
