Have you ever had a Babylon season in your life? You planned your future in detail, and then God changed the trajectory. Look at Israel in Jeremiah 29. God allowed all the prophets and inhabitants to be exiled from Jerusalem to Babylon, a strange land with different customs and beliefs. What situation has God allowed to happen in your life that you are wondering if you will see the fruits of His promises? In Jeremiah 29, the Lord encouraged the people in exile. He encouraged them to build houses and settle down, plant gardens, and eat what they produced. They were told to marry and have children – and increase in number.
God asked them to seek the peace and prosperity of the city they were exiled to. Are you obeying God’s command to you as you navigate your Babylon season? Sometimes the season may cause you to doubt the promises of God, but we as believers walk by faith and not by sight. Through prayer and supplication, we seek God in every season of our lives. As a believer, sometimes you may feel inadequate or unworthy but rest assured that God will not take you where His grace and Spirit do not abound. Therefore believers adhere to Jude 1:20 (KJV), “building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.” Be steadfast in trusting the will of God for your life.
Tom Yeakley, in his book, Praying Over God’s Promises“, wrote, “The promises of God are trustworthy because they are founded upon the character and power of God Almighty.” Brethren, God is not a man that He should lie (Numbers 23:19); hence, consistency and faithfulness in God’s character allow us to be confident in His promises to us. And as He faithfully does what He says He’s going to do, He gets the glory and praise. Do not be weary in trusting God and His promises.
Prayer
Lord, we acknowledge that Your ways are higher than our ways, and we believe You will impart to us how we should go and give us the answer we need to walk in obedience to You. In Jesus’s mighty name. Amen.
