Claim Your Covenant

Claim Your Covenant

Exodus 19:5 (NIV)

“Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice, and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people…” – Exodus 19:5 (NIV)

Why did God make a covenant with mankind? Because we are the key to His redemptive plan, and He wants to restore us to our divine calling.

Genesis 12:1-3 consists of an extended encounter between God and Abram (later called Abraham), who at 75 years old had a wife and no children. Because of Abraham’s righteousness, God made a covenant with him and his descendants, consisting of three separate parts of God’s promise:

  1. The promised land
  2. The promise of descendants
  3. The promise of blessings and redemption

If we remain obedient and with guidance from the Holy Spirit, we will inherit the blessings of this covenant.

You can either accept a covenant or reject it. John 15:5-7 says, “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing” – (KJV). Thus, no covenant equals no answered prayers. No covenant equals no fruits. No covenant equals no success. No covenant equals no eternal life.

But when you’re in a covenant with God, there are many benefits to receive, as evidenced in Genesis 17:1-10. Blessings of multiplication and increase, blessings of companionship, blessings of a bright future, blessings of fruitfulness, generational blessings, and much more. The power of covenants gives us the right to remind God of His Word. When we are baptised and obey God’s commands, we enter into the covenant that the Lord made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – Deuteronomy 7:12-15; 28: 2-12 and we can claim our blessings.

Prayer

Father in heaven, as we come before Your throne of grace, we renew our commitment to You. We bow before You praising Your Holy name. We say more of You and less of us. Freely with this willing heart, use this vessel that is before You.  Keep me in Your love and covenant, in Jesus’s name. Amen.
