Work Brings Profit – Part 3

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the Word of truth.” – 2 Timothy 2: 15 (NIV)

Have you ever felt that you are working hard but are not paid what you are worth? Keep working so you can reap the profits of your work. Even if you are underpaid, your work profits you because you discover what you can do. It is better to deserve an honour and not receive it than to receive an honour and not deserve it. Work reveals potential.

Work profits by unveiling the blessings of work. Work is much more important than honour because it brings learning that releases talents, abilities, and capabilities. Our Manual for Living (the Bible) says, “The appetite of labourers works for them; their hunger drives them on – Proverbs 16: 26 (NIV).

Work gives you the opportunity to rejoice in achievement more than pay. Happiness is found in your work even when the pay is less than expected or deserved. Busy people are given more to do because they are willing to work. As a result, they get a promotion. Remember, you may not be noticed immediately, but your promotion will come. Excellent work always profits the worker.

Finally, your self-esteem is enhanced because of hard work. You begin to feel good about yourself when you have something to do. As you focus on the results of your labour instead of the losses that may have caused you to feel incapable, your estimation of yourself will grow. Your physical and emotional well-being will become healthier.

Remember, God ordained work from time immemorial, and it is honourable.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, help us understand the need to work and the benefits of working. Help us to rejoice in our achievements and give You the glory in the name of Jesus. Amen.
