“…but He entered the Most Holy place once for all by His own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.” – Hebrews 9:12 (NIV)
For someone to receive an inheritance, a person has to die. Jesus died for our sake. Christ’s sacrifice was perfect because it was completely effective and did not need to be repeated. He then ascended into the true heavenly sanctuary where he awaits us.
1 Peter 1:4 tells us our inheritance is in heaven. We have eternal redemption, meaning we are redeemed yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Through the expiatory (or atoning) sacrifice of the Son of God, it was made possible that man could be redeemed, restored, resurrected, and elevated to the position designed for him in creation.
Hebrews 5:9 (NIV) also says, “And, once made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him”. It tells us that according to Christ’s death, those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance. This inheritance is eternal salvation and eternal redemption.
Eternal redemption can be defined as ‘putting faith in the complete and perfect work of Jesus Christ, confessing Him as Lord, accepting the payment and forgiveness for your sins, and trusting in Him to do what you cannot do’. Once this happens, you are saved. This is an eternal decision, and one should not lose what God has given to you as a gift.
John 10:27-28 (NIV) reads, “My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand.” And in John 10:9, Jesus reminded us that He is the gate we all must enter to be saved. These verses teach us that once in Christ, we should not allow outside forces to separate us from Him. His intention is for us to participate in eternal redemption; ergo, His death and resurrection.

Dear God in heaven, thank You for providing eternal life. I will continue to follow You all the days of my life and encourage others to do the same. Thank You for the strength in this journey, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
