“There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” – Romans 8:1 (KJV)
Whenever the devil reminds you of your past, remind him of his abject future. Indeed his future is one of doom and gloom, for he is condemned to be thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where he will be tormented day and night forever (Revelation 20:10 – KJV).
At present, the devil (that old serpent) is out on parole, the only difference is that he cannot be pardoned for good behavior because no good lies within him, only evil. He is an accuser of the brethren, and he goes before God day and night to do so (Revelation 12:10 – NIV). However, given his vile history, he has no jurisprudence to dictate to God how the saints should be treated when they are caught in error, for the blood of Jesus was shed for sins of the past, present, and future.
Saints of God, we have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony (Revelation 12:11); therefore, we need to guard our testimony with all diligence. In order to do so, we must attend church regularly and fulfil our God-given ministry, pray to our heavenly Father on a daily basis, and share our testimony in our spheres of influence (our place of employment, neighborhoods, schools, and in the market places). May we never return to our sinful ways. Hebrews 10:26 (NLT) reminds us that “…if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins”.
Brethren, to sin deliberately is to sin presumptuously, and God hates presumptuous sin. Presumptuous sin is knowingly doing what God forbids while presuming that you will be covered by His mercy. Luke 4:12 warns against such sin. It is an attempt to force God to apply mercy instead of justice. Do not disgrace the grace of God. Genuinely repent or face the serpent.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I come before You in the name of Jesus Christ to confess that I have sinned and have fallen back into my old ways. I don’t want to live like this anymore. Please forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness; in Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen!
