A Believer’s Witness – Part 1

A Believer’s Witness – Part 1

Jeremiah 1:5 (NLT)

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as My prophet to the nations.” – Jeremiah 1:5 (NLT)

Today, I would like to give God thanks and praise for His saving grace and mercy.

God’s Word says that the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and I’m a living testimony of how many times, as a child, satan tried to kill me.

I was supposed to be dead, but God said, ‘No’ in those testing moments of my life before I even gave my life to Him. I can remember I was ‘attracted’ to accidents. I’m saying this because I was hit by every type of vehicle on the road: bicycle, motorcycle, cars, a 36 seater bus, a TATA bus, and even a horse cart. I ended up suffering from an illness called meningitis, that is, inflammation of the fluids surrounding the brain.

I suffered from headaches and vomiting. Everything that I ate or drank was vomited. This happened for consecutive weeks and even months, in some cases, throughout my childhood and teenage life. I spent most of my time in the public hospital, away from school. Studying was no longer an option because whenever  I tried doing that, I ended up in the hospital.

The doctors advised my mother to send me to Trinidad for surgery so that the liquid could be drained from my brain, and if she doesn’t, I will soon die. Thus, she began planning to raise the money. A few days later, however, after checking my chart, a Chinese-looking doctor approached my mother and advised her not to send me to Trinidad. According to him, I will live, and sometime in the future, it will stop affecting me. My mom was in a dilemma.

The next day she searched for the Chinese doctor to ask him if he would take over my case.   To her surprise, all the nurses that worked at the hospital told her that there is no Chinese doctor working there! I believe this was my first encounter with an angel, but I was unaware.

I was discharged shortly after. I believe Jesus was by my side, and nothing can change that. I will continue to testify.
