A Believer’s Witness – Part 2

A Believer’s Witness – Part 2

Psalm 23:6 (NKJV)

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life…” – Psalm 23:6 (NKJV)

As I mentioned yesterday, I will continue to testify about the goodness of God.

After being discharged from the hospital, I went to school whenever I was feeling well, that is, when not vomiting or experiencing headaches. Sometimes, I thought I was only there to make up numbers and be a distraction to the rest of the children who were moving ahead with their education. It was difficult. The Bible also says in Hosea 4:6 (NKJV), ‘My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge…’.  At that time in my life, I felt like I was destroyed.

Then, at the age of thirty-five, I stopped smoking, going to parties, and I stopped stealing things from people. I believe I was like the man in Bethesda (John 5:3-5), where a great number of disabled people used to wait — the blind, the lame, the paralysed, and a thirty-eight-year-old invalid. I believed God touched me at that time. It was time to come into His kingdom. The Bible says, “For I will restore health to you, And heal you of your wounds…Because they called you an outcast…” – Jeremiah 30:17 (NKJV). Brethren, I experienced this restoration.

I’m testifying of the goodness of God because what the devil meant for evil, the Lord turned it around for His glory. My mom, though not baptised at that time, prayed. I was protected from the devil even when I had no proper knowledge of God and His Holy Spirit.                   He declared over my life that any weapon formed against me shall not prosper (Isaiah 54:17). While in Isaiah 43:25, He says, “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins.” (NKJV). Brethren, He does this for His own sake. He forgives and heals. What a gracious covenant!

The devil tried to destroy my brain, the place where knowledge is stored. He tried to prevent me from knowing the Living Word and the purpose that God has for my life. He failed. Throughout my life as a non-believer, I stayed away from reading, I would only look at headlines in the newspaper or at book covers. l was living in fear of being hospitalised or dying. But when I made the decision to follow Jesus, all my fears and inhibitions went away. I now have a new master, the True and Living God. Praise Jesus!
