A Community in the Home

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works.

Hebrews 10:24 (NKJV)

A definition of a community that is familiar at school is: “A group of people living and working together.” We learn that there is strength in unity. The concept of living as a community must be practiced in the home, where members unite to complete tasks that would be beneficial to the family. This practice could produce a ripple effect that would reach the school, the wider community, the workplaces, the nation.

Involving children in decision-making within the family is crucial, especially at this time in our world’s history. These are the days when children ask questions, are able to understand delicate situations, can offer positive words of advice. Neglecting the ideas of the young in the family is dangerous. This practice could lead to other issues that could spiral into a dysfunctional situation.

Families could intentionally plan activities like performing chores, games night, movie night, visiting places of interest, going to church together, family devotions, reading sessions, and such. The family forms the foundation of all that goes on in the world. We’re all craving for a world that would experience unity in the minds of world leaders, spiritual and political. Let it begin in the home. Let it begin in your family.
