A Virtuous Wife is a Blessing to a Man – Part 2
Proverbs 31:10-11 (NIV)
“A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.” – Proverbs 31:10-11 (NIV)
A wife is seen as a crown to her husband (Proverbs 12:4 – KJV). A crown is an ornate jeweled headdress worn by kings, queens, and other royalty. It represents dignity, honour, blessings, favour, and strength. As crowns, wives, you exude in him strength and confidence. The glory of your inner beauty engulfs him and ushers him into God’s destiny for his life. Removing yourself as crowns spells disrespect and dishonour to your husband as God’s designated priest of the home.
Moreover, failure to submit to God’s spiritual authority destroys the foundation of the family, breaks the covenant that you made to God to be submissive to your husband, brings a curse upon your life, and consequently ushers in the presence of the destiny destroyer (the devil) who comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10: 10).
Scripture reveals that choosing the wrong woman to marry can ruin a man’s life, destroy his reputation, and even bring him down to death. But a virtuous woman is one who is wise, God-fearing, and of a strong moral character. She can raise him to his full, God-ordained stature. She will be a blessing from God to enrich his life. Thus, a man should look past a woman’s external beauty to examine her inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in the sight of God (1 Peter 3:3-4, 1 Timothy 2:9).
Women must be mindful of whom they may choose to submit to for the rest of their lives; it is useless for a wife to put her crown on a husband who has the character of a stubborn mule. Some husbands are responsible for ditching the crowns from their heads. The crown suffers abuse, and the intent is crushed; placed as a piece of furniture in a corner of the home. The wives are left to choose fight or flight options or endure rather than enjoy the marriage.
As husbands, you must be aware that when you remove your crown, you are reduced from a king to a knave in the spirit, and you become a slave to the dictates of the devil. A husband’s selfish, uncaring, inconsiderate attitude can cause a wife’s kind personality traits to be transformed into the devil’s incarnate. Before it is too late, husbands and wives who are going through difficulties in their marriage can take stock-taking of their general attitude toward each other and adjust in accordance with the biblical injunction.
