Allow God to Lead – Part 1

“Joshua 24:15a, ‘ But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15 (NIV)

Accounts in the Bible are presented in themes. From Genesis to Revelation, the plan of God for the family is evident. Recently I have been attracted by the lifestyle of Noah and his family, found in the book of Genesis. I am excited to report that this man led his family. As we ponder on the plan of God for the family, His placement of the members is specific (1 Corinthians 11:3)

Noah recognised and honoured his position. He knew it was important that God be the Head of his family. The account of his responses to God’s instructions clearly reveals that he walked with Him. He honoured God in his life and displayed total obedience. Unfortunately, today, men are not in place to fulfill the purpose of their presence in the family. Genesis 6:11 (NKJV) says, “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.” The same challenges experienced by Noah are facing us today. Thus, our prayer must be for men to accept their godly responsibilities.

Noah took his position as the head of the home seriously, thus being the only righteous man in the world at that time. Because of his fear and love for God, God allowed him to live, granted him grace, and made a covenant with him that we all benefit from today. What do you want God to do in your life?

Prayer

Dear God, we humbly approach Your throne today, clothed in the righteousness of Jesus Christ, our Saviour. We thank You for forgiveness of our failures to honour Your Word. We have failed to follow Your plan for the family. As a result, God, we have created unfavourable results in many areas. We bring husbands, wives, and children to You and pray that by the power of Your Holy Spirit, chains will be broken, captives will be freed, and hearts will be healed. Thank You for sending Your blood into every home, declaring peace in Jesus’s name. Amen.
