An Invitation of Thanksgiving

An Invitation of Thanksgiving

Psalm 95:1-5 (KJV)

“O Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God…In His hands are the deep places of the earth…” Psalm 95:1-5 (KJV)

Verses 1 and 2 of Psalm 95 begin with an invitation. Thus, Thanksgiving in the Bible means to respond to God’s goodness and grace with gratitude. Thanksgiving and praise bring God on the scene, puts challenges in perspective, and focus our minds directly upon God, thereby strengthening our faith, and allowing us to destroy negative forces that come up against us. The sweetness of the whole aspect of Thanksgiving is that we must see God in everything, in our good times as well as bad, and give Him praise.

God wants our thanksgiving and commands us to be thankful. He expects us to respond to who He is, and what He does with gratitude. David had a thanksgiving lifestyle and was grateful to God for everything God did for him – Psalm 119:164 (KJV). Seven times a day David praised God because of His righteous judgements. While Psalm 100:4 reminds us to enter His gates with Thanksgiving and come into His courts with praise – another invitation.

Thanksgiving is one of the most important elements of worship. Not only can we recognise the Lord God Almighty for His astonishing attributes – omnipotence, omniscience, omnipresence, sovereignty, and patience – but also learn to recognise His presence in our lives. This weapon of spiritual warfare brings down a blanket of God’s glory to cripple and destroy any adversary. Begin to worship God right now, and destroy the bondage foundation from our paternal and maternal family sides.

Prayer

Lord, I will forever praise Your name. Your mercies are new every morning. Thank You for always providing and guiding me. I praise Your name today and forever more. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
