By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
John 15:8 (NKJV)
Our desire must always be to bring glory to God. The Word of God encourages us to bear fruit in order for God to be glorified. We know that fruit comes from plants. We have a good description in Psalm 1: 1-3 of how we must live in order to bear fruit. Seed, (the Word of God) is in every fruit. Personal knowledge teaches that most fruits contain many seeds that have the potential to produce many new plants. We are encouraged to bear much fruit. To whom much is given, much is required. Fruits can be seen by everyone and are attractive and nutritious. Our gifts and resources are given to life and godliness. We must strive for excellence in all that we do for God. At this point, we are ready to be disciples.
A disciple is a dedicated follower of Jesus who is prepared to share the Good News with non-believers. The Good News is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In order for us to be effective, we must seek to read the Word of God and meditate on it, pray that the Holy Spirit gives us the perfect understanding, and read related religious material. Our lifestyle must show that we are steadfast and dedicated.
The whole mission of a believer is Evangelism. Our purpose on earth is to show forth the praises of God. Our lifestyle speaks loudest. A God-centered lifestyle would help us to evangelise in the home, school, workplace, and community. We cannot all use the pulpit, so let’s show the world that Jesus lives in us and desires to live in them.
