Build Up Your Faith! – Part 1

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit…” – Jude 1:20 (NKJV)

Jude was encouraging the believers to build themselves up. He was concerned that their faith was being challenged and, therefore, they would have to contend for it. As believers, there are times when it’s difficult to pray or to read the Word of God. There may be times in our faith journey when we question God. However, we have encouragement today in Jude 1:20-21, a road map of sorts giving specifics on how we can build our faith.

Building our faith requires recognition that, as believers, we need to take ownership of our faith. Serving God is not a mindless, empty exercise; it requires us to be active and involved in the process of seeking God and demonstrating His love to others. Building and strengthening faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is a deeply personal and spiritual journey. Here are some practices that can help us grow in our faith:

  • Study the Scriptures: Reading and studying the Bible can deepen our understanding of Jesus Christ’s life, teachings, and mission. Take time to reflect on the passages and consider their relevance to your life.
  • Pray: Regular and sincere prayer is essential in building a relationship with Jesus Christ. Pray for guidance, strength, and a deeper connection with Him. Prayer can be a means of seeking answers and feeling His presence in your life.
  • Attend Church and Worship Services: Participating in church services, attending worship, and engaging in communal activities with other believers can provide a supportive and nurturing environment for your faith to grow.

As we engage in these activities prayerfully, we will lead a life that is pleasing to the Lord.

Prayer

Dear God, help me when my faith begins to waver, to focus on You, and to trust Your Word. Teach me to wait upon You in times of uncertainty, and let the Holy Spirit fill me anew, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
