Reverend Dr. Murtland Raphael Massiah was among the worthy recipients of  National Awards at the 2017 Investiture Ceremony, which took place on Friday evening at the National Cultural Centre. He received the Cacique Crown of Honour (CCH), Guyana’s third highest National Award.

He was amongst 69 persons honoured by President David Granger, including religious and community leaders, entrepreneurs, business executives, social workers, academics, artists, officers of the Defence and Police Force, Prison and Fire Services, as well as other members of the community.

The Head of State, in conferring the awards, underscored the importance of the national honour system as a reflection and appreciation of a grateful nation.  The value of service and its impact on education and innovation, science and technology, as well as bettering the lives of citizens, was recognised by the President.

Cacique Crown of Honour

Guyana established national awards after becoming a Republic in 1970, having achieved independence from the United Kingdom 4 years earlier. The first and second highest awards are the Order of Excellence (OE) and Order of Roraima (OR) followed by the Cacique Crown of Honour (CCH). This year’s awardees were announced back in May as part of Guyana’s 51st Independence Celebrations.

The fellowship and friends of First Assembly of God Wortmanville extend congratulations to Rev. Dr. M. Raphael Massiah, CCH. This award is a reflection of his heart and teachings on servanthood and service. We are extremely proud of this demonstration of Kingdom leadership and influence, and give glory to God for you and for your invaluable contribution to our nation, Guyana!
